Success Story Highlight

Somwati Gond's Transformation Through Lac Cultivation

Background: Somwati Gond, from Kharuha village, Shahdol district, struggled with chronic poverty and irregular income from daily wage labor.

Intervention: Through HARD's Forest Rights and Lac Cultivation program, she received IFR claim approval, technical training, and market linkages.

Achievement: Her first lac harvest yielded 36kg, generating ₹8,000 profit - significantly more than daily wage labor. She now plans to expand cultivation and aims for ₹15,000+ income in next cycle.

Impact: Somwati's success has inspired other women in her village to take up lac cultivation, demonstrating the transformative power of legal entitlements combined with sustainable livelihood options.
